Having tested over 5 calendar plugins for WordPress, we found this one served all our clients requirements. It’s called ‘WordPress Pro Event Calendar’ and can be found on codecanyon.
First of all, it had to be responsive. A calendar that didn’t maintain a consistent look over tablet and mobile devices just wouldn’t see out the day. With Google map support and users able to submit their own events, it’s a feature rich calendar plugin. The calendar plugin is also iCal compatible which means it can be imported into your outlook or mobile calendar. It also integrates with MailChimp for subscriptions.
The look and feel of the calendar comes in two colour schemes, light and dark. With some neat CSS changes, the colours can be altered accordingly. See the example below;
It’s very straight forward to set up as well. Simply create an ‘Events Page’ and assign a ‘Calendar’ to the event. There are numerous calendar settings which are configurable in a collapsible menu and check boxes.
Next, add the short code to your wordpress page. eg. [dpProEventCalendar id=1]. Publish and that’s it!
